Slow Boot on Latitude D600

Hi..

I´ve just got my new Dell Latitude D600 at work

and after uppdating the system whit IE 6.0 from Microsofts Homepage

the speed in booting up the computer has gone from about 20 sec to 4 min

I´ve done the same thing on 2 D600 now and it happens to both of them..

I´ve uppdated the Bios to A06 but nothing changes..

is there anyone that knows what´s going on ?

Same thing here. Brand new machine, and after the windows updates (criticals only) it takes a long time to boot. There is a service somewhere that is causing this. Ughh.

well when you install IE, don't just install everything that's there, just to upgrade/install it.  Be mindful of what you need, and not grab everything.. Its probably either messenger or some other add-on that gets downloaded with IE.  Pull up a list of services.. and see which ones are currently loaded, see if you can shut some of them off.. Any way you can elaborate what else you may have done?  IE updates aren't the only thing you upgraded.. mostl likely.. you may have installed something else.  And does it boot slowly everytime?  Maybe it just needs to upgrade the components initially after install.. Also IE updates wreak havoc on the Intel Speed Step for XP.. You may need to reinstall it.  So try that.. see if that helps.l

    Hi..

I´ve just fixed the slow boot thing on my D 600 machins..

D600 is not optimal to have Win2K on .. uppgrade it to WinXP

and it will run perfectly  my 3 D600 computers works like that...
