Studio 1735 and SATA speed
Hi, first of all sorry for my english, isn't my language and i don't write it very well.
Well, my problem is with SATA speed in a notebook Studio 1735, i never care about that because i had a HDD drive and never got the full sata speed, but now i bought a SSD drive and i see that my notebook works in SATAI, and i wanna know if there are any option or driver to change this, because if i've a drive with 500MB/s of r/w and only can use 130MB/s...
I'm using Win 7, with the lastest drivers (package dec 2011, driver aug 2010), AHCI is enabled and the SSD drive is fast enough, because i've plugged it in older PC with SATA2 (Win 7 and without updated drivers) and get about 270MB/S (near 280MB/s of SATA2 limitation).
Someone can help me with this or Studio 17 SATA is limited to SATAI.

I know that, but i wanna know if that notebook have a SataI port or is limited, because the bridge chip is ICH8 and is supposed that support SATAII.
Maybe next time i don't buy a dell notebook, driver are discontinue too early and i see that some things are too limted or older, because i've a lower cost and older PC and have SATAII working fine.
That's not necessarily a sound conclusion. There are brands of SSD that have few compatibility problems - Samsung and Intel drives generally work well. Corsair is a second-tier manufacturer - I would do some searching, as I know there have been compatibility issues with some of their drives.

Is a SATAIII drive, but works in SATAII and SATA. I've tested in another PC with SATAII and worked fine (full SATAII speed), then i know that the problem is the notebook.

Samsung 830 suffers from poor speed co's Dell have limited the 1735 to sata 1 even though ICH8 is capable of SATA 2
If it was advertised as being Sata 3.0Gbps capable and it's not ask for a refund from manufacturer as it's false advertising.

There's no way to upgrade the SATA support on a notebook.
