    It is never too late.

    But there are strings attached.

Dell will not provide you with an XP Installation CD free.

You will have to obtain one for yourself.

I recommend newegg OEM Version here:

    or here:

On the bright side all the drivers are available for Windows XP on Dells web site.

Well I didn't write you a step by step, but it is easy. Most people find it easy, some find it hard. I think the ones that find it hard have a hard time with most things.

Just make sure you get all of the Windows XP Drivers for your system from here:

Enter your service tag number, change the OS to Windows XP and it will pull up the drivers list for your system for Windows XP. Burn them to a CD Rom for use after you get XP installed.

Then you can follow along with this site which is an excellent guide.

Good luck, It is easy as Pie!

Just take note that the F8 Option to factory restore will no longer be available after you install XP, and you will have to back up all your data before.

How about mowing lawns or doing yard work for neighbors?

I'm serious, topoggy57... There was a guy your age in our neighborhood who did yard work for a lot of folks- including us- so he could afford to upgrade his computer. It worked out great for everyone... The young man is now a college graduate with a degree in computer programming. The upgrade was from Win 3.1 to Win 95!
