I ran Microsoft fix it  and it says Windows update components must be repaired, And when I go to windows update it says You may be unable to access the windows update website from windows xp

Could you please let me know the error you come across while updating Windows XP. 

May I know if you are trying to update Windows XP SP3 from a Windows update or through direct download. 

If you are trying to update Windows XP SP3 from windows update, you can run a Microsoft Fix it for the same issue from the link: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9767096 

• Click on the link.
• Save the file on desktop
• Double click on it.
• Follow the prompts on screen. 

Alternatively, you can directly download the Windows XP SP3. 

Note: Make sure you have installed Windows XP SP2 before you initiate a direct download of Windows XP SP3.
