Wrong adapter is recognized

I get this warning when I either boot up my laptop while my ac adapter is plugged in, or when I plug in my adapter while my laptop is running.
"Warning: 70Watt (20V, 3.5A) AC adapter detected.  System will not be capable of running in full performance mode without a 90Watt (20V, 4.5A) AC adapter.  Press any key to continue in battery optimize mode."
I was running the original adapter when the problem occured and it was marked as a 90Watt (20V, 4.5A) PA-9 adapter.  I bought a new adapter hoping it would solve the problem, but I am still getting the screen warning.  I just had a full system crash which forced me to format my drive and re-install everything.  I was hoping this might solve the problem.  Still I am getting this lame warning.  Any ideas?

I thought I posted a more detailed message just a second ago, but I am not sure if it through.  I guess not.

Thanks for any suggestion,
Sean

Hopefully the system is under warranty, as when this happens, the mainboard needs to be replaced. Call Dell for a repair.
