I just received my 2005FPW. It has horrible backlighting problem. It bleeds through all four corners and when things get darker all I see is the bright white light bleeding thru the screen. I also have a dead pixel.
Another thing is even though it was just made in Oct 2005, it LOOKED LIKE A REFURBISHED ONE. It had a huge scratch on the stand and the screen had fingerprints all over it. The clear screen protector wasn't even on the screen. I was really disappointed in this.
I had to go thru 6 Dell reps (5 from India and 1 from the States) for THREE HOURS. They all seemed pretty clueless to my problem and the first 5 kept redirecting my calls. I am supposedly getting a new one shipped to me soon. Let's see what happens.
I have purchased from Dell before and never had this problem. I am very disappointed in their customer service. I wanted to speak to a higher up rep but couldn't. Anyone have suggestions as to how I can complain and let my voice be heard?
Well what an odd coincidence! I live in Canada but my folks have a winter home down in Florida and sent me the same monitor made on the same date. It arrived today and oh man..the backlight issues are horrid! It is so bad that I cannot stand to use it. Any sort of dark backgrounds are so muted and creamed out due to all 4 corners being severly whited from leakage. I was playing FEAR earlier and had to stop since I couldn't see squat due to the leakage. Here is an attached pic of mine.
Any clues how I should go about dealing with this? I know from reading on here that the Dell customer service is all but great. Can I send it back to Dell Canada or does it have to go back to the US? :(
Something else I have now noticed. All my options to change the contrast, sharpness etc are all blacked out, I cannot seem to adjust any of them? Is this normal? :'(
yours is pretty bad too. the way it looks on your bottom left screen..thats how it looked on all four of my corners. not sure if you can return it to dell canada. if you have all the account information you can probably ask them to send it directly to your house. it is a real hassle returning though. i spent in total probably 5 hrs dealing with customer service this week. this new one i got is a REV03 made Nov 2005 and is much better. the replacement didn't come with a return air bill so i had to deal with customer service which was another unpleasent experience. it seems no one wants to help and everyone just keeps referring me to someone else. but goodluck w/ your lcd. you should definitely get an exchange. hope this helps.

Yes - normal when connecting via DVI. Those adjustments would be made with your video card drivers.
This monitor is really a piece of... be calm frankie! What can we do? this is the joke of the seamen who get the good and bad news from the cap:
The good news is that you will change your underwear!
The bad news is that you will change with you, you with you...
I received the second monitor with the same backlit issue and some scratches! Clearly refurbished one!
I am reading all backlit related issues from this monitor and it is a very big problem for the company that have to be addressed months ago. Some time ago I worked as a software engineer for a famous UK automotive company and for some minor flaws the chain was stopped with millions of euros lost! Dell is producing and selling defective products and time goes by...
We may associate ourselves to join forces on the legal issue against Dell, I am not joking!
Sorry if my angry situation is considered radical but I see that the time is running out and the situation is the same. Another refurbished monitor is not what some countries states! In my case the law specifically says that a new product have to be sent. The rep I contacted assures that it is not a refurb. one, but the scratches on the base, wires and the backlit problem again clearly demonstrates that the rep is lying to me! I am very frustrated with Dell.
