the monitor model is E193fpc. Its in the port that fits the plug. how many ports are there for a monitor?210

Ok, The E193fpc only has the blue VGA cable.
* Turn off the monitor
* Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
* Turn on the monitor
* The floating dialog box should appear on-screen (against a black background)
* Does the dialog box float around the screen without any visual problems?

thanks. yes, everything looks fine, colors, black space, floating, etc (but what a dumb way to have to test the monitor!- who figured that one out?) okay, so what does it mean? BTW, I am like going snowblind looking at this, please, please make it go away.210

The STFC (Self-Test Feature Check) tells us that the monitor is ok. The issue lies with the video card or the video card drivers on your Dimension 5150. Is this a new PC? Is this the first monitor you have used on this PC? Open the device manager and tell me what is listed under the Display adapters. What operating system are you running?
* Open the Device Manager (Press the Windows key and the Pause-Break key)
* Click the Hardware tab
* Click the Device Manager button
* Open Display adapters

I bought this Dec 2005 and it came with the monitor. OS is WindowsXP. Under display adapters is listed " Radeon X300SE 128mb hypermemory" and "Radeon X300SE 128mb hypermemory secondary"210

Reboot into safemode. Is it still too light?
* Power the system off
* Power the system on
* At the blue Dell, tap F8 to bring up the Windows boot menu
* Scroll to and select Safe Mode [Press the Enter Key]
* Select the first or only operating system [Press the Enter Key]

It was still light in safemode. what is the worst are webpages where small fonts are almost illegible. However, offline my games look okay, and I have changed the display settings so I have richer color in bars and windows and bolder fonts. I also changed the resolution to the max which seems to help a bit.So what do you thinK?210

Just to be sure, I would remove and reinstall the Ati drivers for the video card. Use these instructions.

What specific monitor model number? What port on the PC is the monitor plugged into?
