Dell 2007WFP Ordered a new one..got refurbished?

Ok i just ordered the monitor and got it today. I ordered it from the small business portion of dell..as a new product. but i am suspecting this product to be refurbished.

the lcd is panel looks like someone try to clean it but you can ese the streak marks. (look at pics). manufacturing date is July 06 in Mexico. model number says 2007wfpb. a02.

did dell try to scam me by sending a refurbished? also on the packaging slip it says "customer service" for sales person. and bottom of the slips says "if this is a replacement, you don't need to send anything back" i looked at the other slips i had from dell for my other pcs and none of them look like that.

thanks guys.

Well, mine most definitely didn't look like that. I think yours has been used and abused. I did however receive mine with one end of the VGA cable already connected to the panel. Did anyone else experience that when unpacking their monitor? :-(

ya i am going to call them first thing in the morning tomm. it was too late today. took me a while to get that first pic. it's hard to keep the camera's flash off the lcd screen to see the marks.

on top of all this, mine has the backlight bleed through on the top left corner.

my vga cable was also connected when i took it out. it seems like everything else except the panel is new in plastic wrap.

whatever happened to the quality you came to expect from dell. my dell dimension 8100 i bought in 01 is still working beautifully. the laptop i bought in 05 already had a service call. the other desktop that ordered in 05, dvd burner stopped reading discs. and i hate talking to these techincal support people. whenever i called about the dvd burner not working, he told me to replace the motherboard. haha. i mean why don't we start with the burner first. honestly.

    That's really bad.

And the note, it's like you got a panel that some sales person was suppose to get at a discount because it's used and maybe they got yours.:)

That is unacceptable, I would get on the phone and have Dell replace it, ask for overnight shipping because of your trouble and you're very dissatisfied.

It may be new. White specs on the screen seen by a flashlight are from shipping, there should have been a note enclosed telling you this and how to remove them.
I used a clean, dry, 100% cotton cloth and wipe carefully minimizing pressure on the screen.

In your user guide on the cd it'll tell you if you wipe the screen with a damp cloth and if there is any detergent residue in it at all, it will leave a milky film like that. I rinsed a cloth out, no detergent residue at all and it still left milky film. Then I had to remove the film.

All VGA cables are connected to 2407's before shipping. Mine were. Why, I have no idea.

    I hope ChrisM sees this.

I'd return it, just because it's one of the worst I've seen.

    Hope this helps.

i called them. they told me will send a new monitor monday or tuesday. she said "we are terribly sorry, i am sure this never happens.." ya ok. If the monitor was properly cleaned i would have never found out.

i will keep you guys updated. What's the latest manufacturing date and revision? Mine was July 06 / A02.

Man, I feel for you... I really do! :smileymad: What the heck, Dell?!? Mine is also going back at the end of the week. I'll save my pennies for something better. Maybe, they'll eventually get it right.

apparently i am not the only one who is getting these dirty monitors. dell is secretly trying to ship out the old monitors as new since no one is buying refurbished these days. u can't even trust new stuff now..let alone refurbished.

One of my 2407 A02's had 250 use hours on it and the other 150 use hours
    when they were supposedly new.

One greasy fingerprints and the other gluey substance, poor Quality Control.

They are not going to destroy returned panels, just a quick check and ship'em out, is my guesstimate.

No explanation here yet for that.

    Good Day.
