Dell S2340M Having problems

Experiencing pinkish hue on the right side of the screen, along with visible lines.
Both the lines and pinkish color are localized the right side only.

Here's what I've tried:

1. Unplugged both ends of the DVI cable (and then plugged them back in too!)
2. Disconnected monitor power and reconnected
3. Rebooted computer
4. Checked monitor driver on computer- computer states it is up to date
5. Ran built-in diagnostics per manual (ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_electronics/esuprt_Display/dell-s2340m_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf)
including disconnecting cabling. The pinkish color and lines are most prominent on the first (gray) screen.
6. Attempted to appease the monitor gods by encouraging my preschooler to do a silly dance (this did not work either)

Pertinent hardware/software:

NVIDIA GeForce 7100 video card
Compaq Presario SR5450F
Windows 7 SP1
using a DVI cable

Any other suggestions? I gave my wife the monitor for Christmas this year. I'd prefer the present worked as intended :)
thanks

    Thanks for the quick response.  I purchased the monitor at Best Buy and I have the receipt.  Not sure how this changes the protocol?
