My dimension xpst600r is about 4 years old. I have the Dell 19 in monitor. This just started. There are horizontal lines, like a shadow showing on the monitor. The line follows the cursor as I move through menus. Any ideas? Thanks George
Try resetting the monitor to its default settings. Do you have any electrical devices next to or on top of the monitor that can cause a magnetic interference? If so, move them away. Devices such as speakers, woofers, phones etc. will cause this to happen.
Thanks Jesse, I've already reset to default setings. I've had the speakers on the desk with the monitor since I've owned the computer. Four years now. This never happened before. I did blow some dust out of the tower with a can of compressed air. I still have the lines but they're not as bad. Maybe it was too hot in that case.I don't know. It might be time to upgrade. George
I believe I had the exact same problem earlier today. It was fixed by replacing the video card, whose fan had been making a racket for a few months now.
Your warranty may have been expired already only because the system you have is 4 years old. before you call the sales dept for a video card order, make sure to call tech support first just to diagnose the problem accurately. they can also give you the part# to order to make sure that you order a compatible card for your system in case the original is obsolete.
