U3011 no driver available? - Help!

I've moved my U3011 to a different system, and can't find the original driver CD that came with the monitor.

On the original system, I had installed the "U3011" driver from the disk, and the computer recognizes it as a "Dell U3011 Ultrasharp".

On the new system it is currently running the Plug and Play driver, and is very flickery (even though I have the resolution set to 2048x1280 resolution and 60 hertz).

I need to get a copy of the real driver, except the Dell site says there "is no driver available". Also the silly person on the Dell tech support seems to deny all knowledge of this concept of "drivers".

Could someone please let me know where I can download the driver that came on the CD for the monitor?

    Cattlesquat,

I agree that the it is odd that the normal File Library does not show any driver. I found this on the FTP site -
    http://ftp.dell.com/monitors/dell_u3011-monitor_a00-00_r272770.exe

When extracted, it list the following -
    u3011.cat
    U3011.icm
    U3011.inf

    Hi Cattlesquat,

Any Monitor will not require the specific drivers to display the picture properly; the windows operating system will have the native drivers for it.

First I’d advise you to check if you are using dual link DVI cable to connect it to the system.

Secondly, you will have to check if the video card is creating the issue and reinstall the video card drivers on the system.

Please let me know if this helps.

I'm using the exact same hardware/computer/card/dvi/etc that I was using before, only it's on another (identical) computer. The first computer had the U3011.inf, U3011.cat, U3011.icm files that came on the original disk, and the monitor worked better than it's working right now on the second computer.

The only thing that appears different is missing the Dell drivers.

Fortunately you inspired me to go look and eventually find my original Dell disk that came with the monitor.

I'm baffled though why Dell won't provide the files on its site any more and seems to deny all knowledge of them now.

ps monitor performance improved with the correct drivers or ICM file or whatever those are called.

Okay yeah that's the set of files that was on the disk - thanks. I did in fact eventually search and find my original drivers disk, and that's what was on it. FWIW the monitor performs MUCH better with the files installed than just the "plug-and-play" mode. Maybe you can get the files put back on the File Library for future folks in need? Anyway thanks!

I just purchased a U3011 and my Drivers disk was damaged.

I found the download for the files mentioned above, but I can't figure out how to install them.

They just seem to extract and the instructions don't say much else.

    What do I do?

    Thanks.

I figured it out. The download did not have a readme but I see other people have asked the question and found the answer:

    1. Click Start-> Control Panel-> and then double-click

      Display icon.

    2. In the Display Properties window, click the Settings tab, and then

      click Advanced.

    3. Click the Monitor tab, and then click Properties -> Driver tab ->

      Update Driver.

    4. When the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box appears, choose

“Install from a list or specific location" and then click NEXT.

    5. Check the "Include this location in the search" box.

    6. Type the path to the location where the driver

files were extracted (most likely "C:\Dell\Drivers\R82652") or use the browse button to select the location.

    7. Click Next -> Finish to complete the installation.
