adding new devices to a dedicated storage node

Hello,

I have a problem adding a new device to the networker configuration. The situation is the following: One networker server 7.3.2 version (o.s. solaris 9) that controls a Stk L700 library with 8 LTO2 devices. This configuration is running without problems. I installed a new dedicated storage node that will use the 9th LTO2 drive in the library.
I installed the new drive, and the storage node operating system sees this drive correctly. I have run the scan for new devices from the Networker Console and the new drive is detected, the red icon is showed for this drive and when i try the "configure drive" (from the right click) I receive an error "storage node enabler is needed".
I have a dedicated SN enabler, and this drive will be used with a dedicated SN, I have no enabler for Storage Node.
Somebody has experienced such behaviour?, any help will be welcome....

Thanks and best regards to all.

This is pointed to a license issue.

You need licenses for both SN and DSN.

Run nsrlic on the license server or NW server, this will give yo a detail information of your license bot used and available.

    Hi,

I've also seen this behaviour in the past. We simply installed another StorageNode temporary enabler to get rid of the message. The license can be deleted after library has been configured. You should ask your support for temp enabler or use one from media kit.

Another question: Are you able to change drive setting 'Dedicated Storage Node' in Configuration tab yet? This is what you need to set anyway...

    regards.

There is RFE to change this.

Request for Enhancement. Once addressed it is supposed to fix your problem.

    Thanks for the reply,

Using the temporary SN enabler would solve the problem, but if I need to reconfigure (change, add, etc) in the future, I will need another temporary...and so on...

I am not able to change any attribute of the new drive untill it is configured (on a dedicated SN).

    thanks and best regards

If you want to configure your drive.

Assuming there is no backup running,

    1. Change the property on the your SN to DSN. this will free up on SN license and should allow you to configure your drive.

    2. Configure your device and make it a DSN.

    3. Change the property of 1. above to its original state ( i.e. SN)

I have tried it before, it worked for me.

    Thanks,

I dont see on the SN properties the dedicated storage node attribute, I am only able to change this property in the drive.
    Where is this property?.

    Thanks and best regards.

ok....The problem is that after the scan for new devices, the drive is unconfigured (no properties can be seen or changed), the only task that I can do is configure the drive (thats when the SN enabler is needed).
After the configuration, the properties can be changed to dedicated storage node.

    thanks
