Backup failure

Hi,

I have a backup failure for a particular client with the following error message. All the aliases seem to be right and no other names exist for the client. Anything else I can check on

39078:save: SYSTEM error: client `Livlpscimw22.r1-core.r1.aig.net' is not properly configured on the NetWorker Server

I've seen that error a few times and it is not always an issue with the configuration on the backup server! I'd suggest checking things like name resolution, testing client initiated backup etc if there are no evident problems with the configuration in Networker.

Are you also getting the error as:

or `Full FQDN hostname` is not in the aliases list for client `Hostname'

If yes please verify and if ok add this FQDN to the aliase attribute of the client resource.

Check etc host file of backup server for client and also of client for backup server.
Put all the entries of client which are in etc host file of backup server for client in aliases of client properties in NMC and then start backup.
    Hopefully it should work.

Run a save command client initiated backup. That would give you some more info. Post the result here.

    Hi,

Try adding the backup server's name/FQDN to the /etc/host file as well as the 'Server Network Interface' in client properties.

It should help, I cleared a lot of failures like this in last couple of days.

    :)
