I am also having a similiar problem as the person in http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_wireless&message.id=4547 , except I can get to the login screen when I type in http://my.router.

I will first say what my situation is. My girlfriend has a cable modem (rogers cable in canada). I hooked it up to her desktop as the manual suggests, power off, etc. The quick install has only ever worked once, where it fully installs everything, but nothing has ever worked, so she has given up. I recently started to try and get it working for her. She is on a fresh install of XP, all intenret settings are on default (automaticaly get an ip address, etc, everything is as it should be). I then switched from trying to get her desktop wired through the router, to using her dell laptop, thinking maybe it was the desktop, but I still have the same problem. The router can't finish configuring or assinging ip addresses, it always freezes in that area.

So to sum that up, I havn't even gotten to adding computers to the wireless networking, because I am not able to even browse the internet, or get a connection (or an ip possibly) through the router, while be wired into it.

I took the router home, and have been trying to install it by quick launch again, but still has not worked.I have an IBM R31, and High Speed internet from Sympatico (DSL modem). I get the same error has I did at her house on her machines,so this had led me to think it is not any of the computers, or even any of the modems that are not compatibile with the router (thanks rogers tech support -- thinks the modem isnt compatibile.. which I highly doubt)

I read the documentation saw that there are some different set up methods, such as one for cable modems and another for DSL modems. I have yet to try the cable install, but I have tried to do the specific xDSL modem install. I can access the router login screen, BUT, the name and password of "admin/admin" does not work. I had asked my girlfriend if she changed anything in the router, once she got to that screen (because she remembres getting into the settings, but doesnt remember what she did in there), but she doesnt know if she changed any passwords or not, or router/host names for that matter. (my  friend says taht with rogers, you must supply the router with the unique computer name they give your computer when they first install rogers in your home, which i have now found but have not yet tried on her computer. my networking professor says that is not the case anymore, that rogers dynamicaly assigns unique names now, along with ip addresses, so he thinks i wouldnt have to manualy enter a router name [the name her desktop is using right now])

I also read that you can return the router to default settings by resetting it. I am quite confused as to how I reset this thing. On the back, it says "reset", and htere is a hole about the size of a tip of a ball point pen.This is all I can see. It is right beside the protrusion which is of the antenna.

So, to sum this all up -- I am attempting to configure the router on a DSL modem but first need to reset the router so hopefully it returns to default settings, so that the admin/admin username and password combination will let me into the router web config. From there, I hope to get it working in my house, and if I do, then I should be able to go back to her house and do the same things I have done here (except with a cable modem of course).

As for my guesses to the problem, i am hoping she actualy changed the username and password, or else id have a bigger problem if she didnt, and they still are admin/admin but i am not being aloud in. She may also have turned off the dynamic assinigng of ip addresses and such, or given the router a different name then it should have. She remembers doing somethign like that.

So, if someone could tell me how to at least reset the router, I will attempt to get this all going, if not, I will be back with my progress, or lack there of!

I forgot to add. I do get a LAN connection when I put the router into the loop (my note book --> dell router --> DSL modem), and this is what it looks liek in my console when i type ipconfig
