Adding New Printer Attached on Wireless Network to Another PC
Have Dell AIO 924 attached (wired) to Dell XPS. Have Westall Wireless Router wired to Dell XPS and 2nd PC (Dell Dimension 4600) attached to the network through wireless PC card. I know the network is established as files and web access obtained wireless on the Dimension. Both computers on Windows XP
I am trying to use the Add Printer utility so that I can print through the Dell AIO through the 2nd PC, however while 'Browse Network for Printers' does show the Dell AIO through the XPS when I click add printer I receive error message 'Windows cannot connect to Printer. Either the Printer Name was typed incorrectly or the specified printer has lost its connection to the Server' Since I am clicking after the printer browses for the network printers I dont this this is mispelled.
Have you enabled File and Printer sharing on the computer with the printer? If not, do that by opening the Printer properties and selecting Sharing and then the Add Printer Wizard should see it as a Network printer. Make sure the connected computer is on and not firewalled on the local network.
