You're able to get a pairing between the desktop and the phone, but unable to transfer files?   Is that correct?

Not sure I can help much if it's pairing up but not sharing files, but which wireless card do you have in that system?  It had options for the Dell DW1704 or DW1705 cards, which one do you have in that system?

Here is a link to the Drivers & Downloads page for the Inspiron 3847.  Please make sure you change the OS to Windows 10, and then look under the Networking category.  You can find new drivers there to download for your wireless and bluetooth cards.  If you haven't updated to the correct one for your system (you didn't mention which driver version is currently on your system) please try and update the driver again.

If that doesn't work then I would recommend removing the drivers, rebooting the system, and see if Windows has an innate driver that might work better for you.

Let us know which card(s) you have in the system and what driver version is currently on your system, and whether or not the updated drivers work, and we'll see what else we can find to help you.

Hello there,
                       I have the DW 1705 device and last night I tried the win 8.1 64 bit network drivers and had the same result, it would pair but no connection. I uninstalled the driver and rebooted and let win 10 install the stock drivers. I went to the device manager and had the bluetooth update the driver. It went online and updated the driver, I rebooted and had the same issue. The phone would pair but no connection. I have driver booster installed and had it check for any update and it indicated that everything was up to date and the device was working properly. No matter what I do it will pair but nothing else. Any other suggestions?

           Yes I did update all my drivers through the dell web site and have the A08 Bios update installed. When I run a check through the dell site for any updated drivers I get a message saying that a chip set management driver from Intel needs to be installed. It would not install on its own but I would manually download and install it with no problems.

I was searching some of the Microsoft boards trying to find an answer, and I found that a few people state that updating the BIOS on the system might help.   Use the link above to get to the Drivers & Downloads page (make sure you change the OS to Windows 10) and check out the BIOS update that is available.

Not sure when / if you've updated your BIOS lately but the Inspiron 3847 released Version A08, A08 in late July, just before Windows 10 came out.  Do you know if you updated the BIOS prior to upgrading to Win10?  If not, follow the directions for the BIOS download and installation and see if that helps.

I did a quick google search and found this video on fixing file sharing issues with Windows 10 and bluetooth, as well as this from the Microsoft forums.  The Microsoft link talks about installing the drivers in compatibility mode, which may help.  

Try compatibility mode with the drivers.   If the two are pairing I'm not sure what else I can do to help.

                      Well I believe I have found the source of the problem. I have updated all my drivers for the Wan/Bluetooth from Dell. Now I am able to send a file to the phone, that worked but when I ytied to send a file to the computer from the phone, I saw a message saying that the computer was waiting to connect. But nothing happened. So it seems that Bluetooth is a two channel system. I also found that the icon on my phone for bluetooth is grayed out even when the switch indicates its on. The phone is a Moto X First generation with Android 4.4. I have contacted the phone carrier tech support to see if they can offer any help. I am awaiting a upgrade to Lollipop 5.1 and maybe that would help but since the icon used to be bright white when Bluetooth was on but now is stuck in gray. Thank you for your help, I believe that the problem is in the phone and the computer end is working without any problems. When I get a answer from the phone company I will advise.
