Does Gigabit Ethernet Work in Dimension 4100 ?

Can anyone tell me if Gigabit Ethernet is an option in a Dimension 4100? If so, can anyone tell me a specific Gigabit Ethernet card to get. Lastly, are there any drivers I need to ensure are up to date (perhaps for the motherboard?).

THANKS!!

You would need a gigbit ethernet card in the 4100.  Most should come with drivers for the version of Windows you have installed.  But, if you are running Windows 98 or ME on that machine, look carefully, because not all manufacturers may provide drivers for Windows versions that old.

I think that Gigabit ethernet is only supported in 2K and above so as Steve said ME and below you can forget about.  Now you do realize that a GIG NIC is not going to speed up your ISP and you will only see the speed of 1000Mbps internally if that Gigabit NIC is sitting behind a Gigabit switch.
