How Do I keep my network settings without resetting evey time?

Hi,

can anyone help? I have a network setup on my Laptop to my home pc, I have to setup the network places every time i switch the computers on.

The system works when a WAN connection is enabled for sharing, but every time i switch on again it has defaulted back to the LAN network sharing and niether PC talking to each other.

    How are you connecting them?  We need a lot more system and network details.

    The Laptop is my main computer and is connected to the internet via a broadband usb modem. the pc is connected to the laptop via a LAN cards.

    Personally I would go to Best Buy and buy a $30 DSL/Cable router.  Put the router between the cable modem and your two computers.
