Internet Connection Speed Issues

I am running XP pro and have a DSL connection. The last couple of days, I have been getting variable connection speeds and occasional failures. Sometimes the connection seems normal. Other times, the connection seems very slow and new pages take much longer than usual to load. Also, I sometimes seem to lose the connection altogether, getting a "page cannot be displayed" error message, but then the connection will return (often without doing anything except trying to open another address). I am running AVG anti virus software and eveything comes up clean. Any ideas about what is going on?

That was my first thought as well. They have reported no outages or intermittent outages in my area. UGH!

Sounds like a problem with your ISP - give them a call.

Have you tried to connection to your modem by running a diagnostic check on the modem?  Sounds like a modem issue or configuration blip that could have occured.

You might want to go here and find the forum that deals with your service provider. I have Adelphia cable and the forum has been very helpful.

I think this problem I was having was related to spyware. I installed some freeware that eliminates spyware and internet navigation speed seems to have returned to normal.
