Within the last couple of months I have been receiving an "Internext Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close message" when we use the internet. It happens about 95% of the time we are on the internet and is very annoying. We currently have a dial up connection but have always had that and never had an issue until recently. I did a Microsoft update search and it told me that I needed Internet Exploer 7 and I loaded that and it didn't solve the problem. I have also checked for 'spyware' and have found nothing malicious on the computer itself. I want to know what can be causing this problem and how to correct it. Thanks.
That can have many reasons. Unfortunately you forgot to include your PC Model Number and Operating System so we can't really give you a lot of specific info - just general.
If you have Windows XP, how much memory do you have? If it's less than 512Mb consider upgrading.
The I.E. problem may require a complete "clean" reinstall - one option. The clean install is reformatting the hard drive and completely reinstalling.
Do you have any add on's to I.E. such as the Google or yahoo toolbars? that may be a cause.
If you have AOL, then all bets are off as AOL is buggy.
Your issue is more software rather than "networking" and would have been best posted in the applicable software section.

I have a Dimension 8400 PC that is running Windows XP. I have 1 GB of RAM. I am on Netzero dial up... not AOL. I believe the Google toolbar is installed but I didn't install it. I don't know if it happened automatically or my wife did. How can I uninstall it if that may be causing the problem?
I will check the software section as well to see if there is any information.
The control panel add/remove programs should list the google tool bar and allow you to uninstall it.
Ultimately you may need to do a Windows XP "Repair" function to try and get it corrected. You will need your XP CD for the Repair function - you boot from the CD but instead of installing XP, you select the Repair option.
