Laptop suddenly has no internet connection ability
Hi,
I have a 4 year old laptop that I have no problems with and up until a couple days ago was going to the internet with no problems as well. I turned it on the very next day and could not access the internet. Nothing that I'm aware of changed. I checked the internet connections, got a new ethernet cable, and did a system restore with no luck. I was wondering if it would need a driver update and exactly what driver would I need to download? Right now I'm using my PC and I would have to download to this computer, burn to a CD, and install on the laptop, if that would work all right. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your reply. I have an ethernet connection. Yes, the status light near the ethernet connection is on and periodically flashes. It runs Windows XP Home edition, without the SP2 pack. I have the high speed DSL internet. I apologize that I didn't clarify that. Thank you for any help you can offer.
I will try what you suggested. However, forgive me for sounding like a dummy, but can you please clarify for me how to obtain the ipconfig/all results you are requesting?
Network adapters are listed, no yellow ? or red X. Status reports "device working properly" Please let me know on the ipconfig/all results and how to obtain them that I asked in my previous post.
I connected my laptop to the modem and turned it on and tried again to access the internet with no luck. I ran the ipconfig/all command and this is what I got:
Primary DNS suffix.................
Node type...........................Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled................No
WINS Proxy Enabled..............No
Ethernet adapter local area connection:
Media State.........................Disconnected
Description...........................Broadcom 440X 10/100 Integrated Controller
Physical address....................00-0F-1F-10-AD-27

Have you looked if ether net to see if the status lights are on.
