Latitude D600... Cannot reinstall Intel Pro/Wireless Lan 2100 driver
We've had a new Cisco wireless access point installed in our office. In order for our laptops to communicate with this access point, the Intel Pro/Wireless Lan 2100 driver/software has to be uninstalled, reinstalled and the appropriate settings be made. I was able to uninstall the software but not able to reinstall it. I've tried installing the sofware several times (maybe around a dozen times) with restarts between each step. When I restart the computer, I check Start>Programs and do not see the app. I also check Control Panel>Add/Remove programs and do not see the app. Before unistalling, I found the app in both places. We've got 2 more laptops... same model... and those uninstalls/reinstalls went fine. Any idea of why this program will not install on this laptop? I've also tried installing in Safe Mode and still no difference.

It sounds to me like the installation program you are using only includes the card driver. You will need to install the Intel ProSet software too. However, you may not need this software to get your machine connected to the wireless network. Providing the card driver is installed you can use Windows to configure the network settings.
You can download the driver and the ProSet software from the Dell downloads area as a single installation package. When you run the installation program it extracts all the files to a detination of your choice and then the driver and ProSet software installs automatically (you don't get a choice!). As a side note the extracted files include a drivers folder and a ProSet folder both of which can actually be installed independantly.
Should you have problems with the latest driver (mine won't work with the latest driver) you may revert back to your old drivers. I would imagine you could use the latest ProSet software with them but I have not tested this.
