When I try to use the modem to fax, etc, it says no modem is connected.
I have a Dell Dimension 2400 that is supposed to have a Conexant SmartHSFI V92 56k Modem. However, Device Manager has 9600 modem only. I have downloaded the driver for the Conexant and still no luck. I connect to the internet thru my Cable provider, but need the modem to fax.
Have you done anything with the PC, such as reinstalling Windows XP or even reinstalling everything? That may explain why the modem isn't detected. Reinstall the Dell (motherboard) chipset drivers and then attempt another install of the modem drivers and see if that helps.
