monitor screen goes black then comes back on
Hi there
While I am working at times my monitor screen goes black then comes back on. It does not do this all the time except it also does it when I shut the modem down and then bring it back on again. It does that a couple of times during rebooting. What would you say is the problem?

Try lowering your refresh rate.
Go to the Desktop and right click.
The Display Properties window will pop up.
Clicl on the "Settings" tab. ( upper right corner )
Click the "Advanced" button.
Click on the "Adaptor" tab.
Click the "List all modes" button.
A window will pop up showing your present setting. ( 1024 by 768, true color (32 bit), 72 Hertz) for example.
Click on the next setting UP ( 1024 by 768, true color (32 bit), 70 Hertz) for example.
Close all popups and windows and return to the desktop. Your screen will go black when you do this. A window will pop up and say that your settings have been changed, do you want to keep this setting? If all looks well click YES.
That should do it. If the problem contnues, lower your setting again until your problem stops.
It is an issue with your video card/ monitor not "getting along" because the refresh rate is set too high.
