Either one is a good choice, I have a netgear wab102 dual band and setting it up was fast and easy. I get a graet signal everywhere in my house and outside too.

I bought the Linksys you want.  It is 100% flawless.  I was set up in 10 minutes.  My all-in-one printer talks fine to it (by cable link).  I couldn't be happier.  My group of tech geek friends all say to go with the Linksys.

I would say the only limitation is the fact that my wireless card is internal in my 5150 instead of external, so I get slower connectivity in some parts of my home.

I second the Linksys products, although I don't use the 'g' system but rather the wired router and an wireless access point, they have been completely trouble free, easy to setup (web or CD), secure, and have good web support. Have not powered up the Inspiron, yet, but use my PDA in all of the house, marginal signal furthest away, looking at getting the WSB24 Booster if it proves an issue with the Inspiron.

i'd actually go with netgear. there have been multiple issues concerning the reliability of linksys products especially their router. most of the time they would only work for the first 6 months to a year

Looking at the Readers review on Cnet.com, it shows that more people are satisfied with their Netgear.  The visual appeal that Netgear gives in addition to its solid performance is certainly making it more attractive.

Currently there is a deal on Amazon.com for this router.  It's cost is 55.95 after a $20 rebate.  It comes with free-shipping and no tax (I live in NY.)

 

It appears that the Netgear WGR614 only supports WEP encryption, while the Linksys WRT54G also supports WPA. Can someone else also confirm this? The Netgear WGT624 does support WPA, but is more expensive than the WRT54G (though not by much after rebates). I have a Netgear WGR614 and have experienced one problem: one of the 10/100 ports has burned out. I have not yet tried to get a warranty replacement.

The Netgear site indicates that there are two versions of the WGR614 router.

How can we determine which one we have?...

 

 

I believe the newer one says WGR614v2 on the bottom. I have the older one. Does the newer one support WPA?
