Wirelss problem - can't find any networks
Inspiron 9300 laptop--WinXP Serv Pack 2. Of course, warranty just ran out. Recently accessed different wireless networks on vacation, all of a sudden my WiFi will not work. It does not attempt to find any available networks. This is what the dialogue box says:
No wireless networks found in range. Make sure wireless switch on your computer is on. To see an updated list, click "Refresh Network List" When I do that, nothing happens, when I know for sure there is a fully functioning wireless network that someone else is using in the same house on a wireless laptop. I tried to run an IPCONFIG at the command prompt, and absolutely nothing happened. What do I do??? Any help is appreciated.

Yes, I have tried the Fn+F2 toggle, and nothing happens. I noticed my WIFI light at the top of my keyboard has not been illuminated at all throughout this process. I have hard-reset my laptop to no avail. I am starting to think my IntelPROset Wireless card has gone bad. Is that common? I just downloaded a new driver set for IntelProSet Wireless, but have not installed yet. Do I need to uninstall the current driver before I install this new one? Sorry, I am quite the novice!Thanks for your help :)OptiPlexed

Have you tried updating your network drivers? Even if you have the latest version sometimes reinstalling the drivers can help by overwriting the existing filesOptiPlexed

You can install the new driver over the old one.You can also try this reboot procedure, I got it from HP for a different issue but it might help here. Turn the laptop off, unplug the AC, remove the battery, press the ON button and hold the button on for about 30 seconds (nothing should happen), connect the AC power and turn it on.You may also want to check the BIOS (press [F2]) and make sure your wireless is enabled.carlawhetski

Somehow, I don;t know what combo worked, but now my WIFI is BACK!!! You guys saved me $$$ and time. Thank you so much!!carlawhetski

Just checked the MiniPC card -- all was normal. Still no wifi.
