Optiplex 9010 with no video on boot.
The BIOS version is A10. I have the desktop connected to a dell monitor via a display port.
If I use my OS's shutdown or reboot function, I will get nothing on the screen the next time it boots, not even the dell logo. I was able to get at least the dell logo if I unplugged the machine completely and left it without power for five minutes, but it turns off within seconds and the next attempt to start it results in no video output at all again (it is not overheating).
I have previously had this problem, but I was able to solve it by tapping F10 to open the settings menu. However now this no longer works.
I usually leave it on continuously and I was using it yesterday, so I know the monitor and video hardware work. If I let it boot despite it not having any video, I am able to log into it via SSH and it is working fine. I have changed the coin cell on the motherboard with a new one and this has not worked.

Thanks for your reply. The battery was replaced with a new one. It sat without the battery or any power from the mains for over half an hour. Is it still necessary to use the jumpers to clear the settings when the power has been lost for so long? They are very difficult to get at. The page here: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-nz/000124377/how-to-perform-a-bios-or-cmos-reset-and-clear-the-nvram-on-dell-systems is telling me removing the battery should do it.
I don't have anything which connects to VGA, unfortunately.

I did indeed have to use the jumpers. It works now. Thanks for your help.
(If anyone else with a 9010DT is having trouble finding the jumper, it is around 10cm forward towards the front panel from the coin cell. It looks like a longish blue plastic tab sticking out of the motherboard, and is likely hidden behind wires. The instructions in the URL I posted above for clearing the nvram is what I used.)

it sounds like other than no video output on DP, pc works. Clear cmos via jumper may or may not help. Removing cmos battery for hours in theory resets cmos to factory default, but in practice is not always so.
if clearing cmos does not solve issue, next thing to try is to install a simple discrete video card that has DP port, since you do not have vga monitor.
