Where exactly is thermal zone 2

Hi,

we are running Ubuntu 16.04.1 on PowerEdge R220. Currently our monitoring system reported overheating at Thermal Zone 2. Where exactly is thermal zone 2? Which part of the server was actually overheated?

Thank you for any help!

    Hi,

What monitoring software are you using? If you use OMSA it may tell you if a specific fan isn’t working. http://linux.dell.com/repo/community/ubuntu/

It most likely is the system board temperature. The R220 has a CPU temperature which is mostly likely zone one and a system board. In OMSA or the iDRAC they are listed by name and not by zone.

Hi, we are using check_mk which is actually built on Icinga/Nagios.

But the temperatures are read from OS somewhere from /sys/....
