Which disk do I replace?

I have a Poweredge T300 with 3 physical disks.  In openmanage, the virtual disk is degraded and only shows 2 physical disks, so I guess the third is dud.  I need to know which one to replace.  When I click available tasks on either of the remaining physical disks, no tasks are shown, so I can't use blink and unblink.  Help please!

Yes, this means you have to power of the server and take it apprt. The hardware manual is here Page 80 describes removing a disk. The disks slide out of the cage to the side, the sata/sas cables are numbered. Once the disk is replaced you would set it as a hot spare in openmanage.

Hot swap (backplane) or cabled?  Which drive is missing from OMSA?

In openmange, expand the phsical disks and it shows 2 disks. The numbering should be 0:0, 0:1, 0:2 for 3 disks. If they're hot swap ie you can see the disks on the front of the machine. Each disk will have a number next to it, 0 at the top disk then 1,2,3 etc downwards. If the disks are internal and you only see a grill on the front of the server. The disks will be in a cage and the disk numbers are stamped on the side.

Thanks all for your replies.  I believe the drives are cabled, not hot-swap (I can't see them at the front - there's just a grill when I take the front off.  Also, one of the disks needed replaced after 6 months when it was in warranty and I'm sure the engineer switched it off and opened it up, rather that swapping a disk at the front.  I noticed the current problem when the machine was less than a week out of its 3 year warranty - typical!).  In openmanage, the two remaining disks are labeled 0.0 and 0.1.  So, if I look inside, does this mean there will be one stamped 2 or 0.2 and that is the one needing replaced?

    Thanks again for your help.

Tommo  - thanks.  I will now order the replacement disk and have a go at fitting it - I may be back if I need help!

When you set it as a hot spare, it should start rebuilding. You could also select 'rebuild' on open manage in the phsical disk menu. I've found setting to hot spare as the most reliable method.
