Multiple Errors: Failed: Create RDM ScaleIO-RDM-1463586970 on datastore (VMware - Failed to add devices to SVM)

Now that I've got passed the plugin install, I am running into two errors deploying ScaleIO, it fails with the error

Failed: Create RDM ScaleIO-RDM-1463586970 on datastore vxprt-esxi01-silver02-local (VMware - Failed to add devices to SVM)

On all 3 nodes (each node with a different DS name). It is a nested ESXi setup, so per another thread enabled VMDK creation but still getting the error.

Also, the first time through it created the SDC fine, however in subsequent attempts I get

Configure SDC driver on ESX (The SDC cannot communicate with the MDM cluster. Verify vmkernel and/or portgroup settings. )

I had cleared the SDC config via esxcli system module parameters set -m scini -p "", but not removed the vib. Removing the vib would be my next step.

Cleanup steps are:

Unregister ScaleIO system

Delete ScaleIO vms

Clear SDC vib config via esxcli system module parameters set -m scini -p ""

    Seems I missed the create VMDK checkbox (which is hard to see because its cut off, and doesn't seemt to be expandable) when selecting the drives to use, trying with that selected now

    Slightly different errors now:

    Failed: Configure SDC driver on ESX (The SDC cannot communicate with the MDM cluster. Verify vmkernel and/or portgroup settings. )

    Failed: Add SDS device mpx.vmhba1:C0:T2:L0 to Storage Pool vxprt-esxi-pool01 (Unknown ScaleIO error)

    and on other runs

    Failed: Create VMDK ScaleIO-VMDK-1434033734 on datastore vxprt-esxi01.vxprt.local-ScaleIO_DS-1 (VMware - Failed to add devices to SVM)

    It had previously created the datastores, but I can't seem to resolve the MDM communication issue. This is a flat network, all interfaces are pingable.

    Where might the relevant logs be for this?

    We need the all the stuff in scaleio folder (deployment logs + configuration files etc.) + the Virgo logs.


    VC 5.5

    Windows:

    Virgo logs: C:\ProgramData\VMware\vSphere Web Client\serviceability\logs

    Plugin logs and other files: C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\VMware\scaleio

    Plugin location C:\ProgramData\VMware\vSphere Web Client\vc-packages\vsphere-client-serenity

    Linux:

    Virgo logs: /var/log/vmware/vsphere-client/

    Plugin logs and other files: /opt/.vmware/scaleio
