Hoping someone can help. I have a Precision 5820 that came with a SATA SSD. I'd like to upgrade it to M.2 NVMe and possibly to an M.2 NVMe Raid array. Can you please tell me what components I need to add AND any preferred M.2 manufacturers/models. I plan on using 1TB drives
I'm still tinkering with the setup, will update when I get farther along.
Without the RAID on MB key, you could still get decent results with Windows Storage Spaces, which will give you Simple ( ~ RAID 0), Mirror ( ~ RAID 1), or Parity ( ~ RAID 5) options:
My thoughts on this card were, better to use a PCI X16 card (must be a FULL X16 slot to see all 4 drives!!) slot for NVMe & use the limited drive bays for large ( ~ 20 TB) mechanical drives.
To OP question, the Asus Hyper will certainly work and allowing additional drives to be recognized. A feasible and economical solution for storage expansion.
