Which for RAID: 3660 or 5820 and Which RAID Card?

I am thinking of buying a Precision 3660 or 5820 in the Dell Outlet Store and would like to add a RAID 5 volume for storage. I will use a SSD as the boot drive and three Seagate Exos 4TB 3.5-inch SATA drives for RAID.

Between the 3660 and the 5820 would would be best, and what RAID card would be best to use?

I would pick the 5820 for its versatile storage expansion and server style thermal cooling.  Just get a Xeon base configuration with SATA backplane flexbay.  It will fit 3 Exos drives and a SATA SSD boot drive at the front flexbay.  You can also use PCIe adapter (ultra-speed) for NVMe storage expansion and boot drive.

For RAID controller, the integrated Intel RSTe software RAID 0,1,5,10 options are available and sufficient for your needs.  Optional MegaRAID 9440 and 9460 controllers are available for hardware RAID.

Here is the spec sheet for 5820, https://i.dell.com/sites/csdocuments/Shared-Content_data-Sheets_Documents/en/us/Precision-5820-Tower-Spec-Sheet.pdf

If I may, why Seagate Exos ? I had not a really good experience with them, and backblaze confirms it.

4TB , hgst hms5c4040ale640 or hms5c4040ble640 are way  more reliable ( exceeding 6 times more reliable vs exos 4tb )
