I print many documents in Draft mode. Recently my printer fails to grab the paper from the hopper when requested to print in Draft mode. Has anyone any idea why?
Unplug the power cord, adapter from the printer, press and hold the power button on the printer for 20 seconds. This will remove the static power from the printer.
Please check if there are any obstructions in the paper tray, and make sure the roller guides are working.
Remove all the papers from the tray and try to print using one paper at a time.
Adjust the paper guides so that they just touch the paper.
Misadjusting the paper guides can cause jams or misfeed.
If the guides are too loose, the paper may jam, misfeed, or skew.
If the guides are too tight, paper may bow, causing multiple feeds or jams.
1)Did as suggested and obtained 5 prints before the misfeed happened again, then misfeed almost every time, but only when printing in draft mode. Always ok in normal mode.
2)could not see any obstructions , roller guides seemed free.
3)same effects when 1 paper sheet or multiple sheets
4) Paper guides ok
I tried to push a piece of photopaper through but it would only go about half way, but could not see any obstruction
Seems strange that the misfeed only happens when printing in draft mode.
Are there any instructions showing how to remove all or part of the cover so I can see what is not happening when in draft mode.
I use only dell ink cartridges purchased directly from dell.
I have installed a black/white and a colour cartridge(s)
I have noticed that when printing in normal mode the printer often seems to make several attempts to feed the paper before the paper moves far enough to statrt printing
Start, control panel, devices and printers, click on your printer, printer preferences. Make sure the proper paper and size is selected. Also make sure the proper paper and size is selected on the printer.
If the paper is moving, it may be possible there is a piece stuck. Some members have unplugged the printer from the wall, turned it upside-down and shook it for 30 seconds. Other members have used a vacuum cleaner.
