now that i have set up my 924 for wireless, i find that the scanning options on my laptop are greyed out so i am unable to preview the scan or select what format to save it in. Any ideas? simple help would be appreciated as I am a computer novice although grasp ideas quickly!
One of the 'drawbacks' of wireless setup is that, the scan options on the All-in-One Center will be grayed out, that's just normal. For 'wireless' scanning, you need to do that on the operator panel of your printer.
*to scan from printer:
go to "Mode: Scan" then click on 'start' (the green button)
thanks for that. Have tried it, but seems the default is a .jpg format. The panel on the printer doesn't seem to allow you to choose any other such as word. Is this 'normal' too when set up with wireless? so, no other way to use the full functionality except to hardwire then?
hmm.. well, just to double-check.. when you press on the start button under scan mode, what usually comes up on your computer screen? does it pull up your all-in-one center?
oh, okay. because as far as i know, newer dell printers would ask for the program where to send the scan to but it's possible that the 924 doesn't have that function.. oh well, most likely you'll have the full functionality hard-wired..
yes, think yr right as i recall seeing it in working order when i first reloaded it. That's why i was curious as to why i couldn't use it when i set up wireless. Oh well, i'll just have to get off my but and use the desktop upstairs now and again when i want to scan something particular! Thanks for your help.
