A920 Scanning Problems

Has anyone had a problem getting the A920 to scan and copy...mine prints fine but does not scan or copy...does it have anything to do with the paper senser??

Thanks,

Had a similar problem with my A940.  It would not work using the control panel.  Solution was to unplug the printer from the electrical supply and then plug it back in.  This allows a reset.  it's a cheap fix so give it a shot.

I have the exact same problem.  Unplugging and resetting didn't work here.  I emailed Dell and they told me to clean the glass on the scanner bed (I'm not joking).

Yep, I got one of those also...I lost my patience with them and had to write the COO of Dell...we'll see.

I have the same problem with this printer. Whenever I press the scan-button, I get an exception.

A workaround to this problem is to stop the spooler-service.

If I now press the button, I get a warning, that the printer-driver is not installed, but after confirming this dialog, I get into the scan-dialog and it work's fine.

Of course, copying is not possible, because the printer driver is missing.

Welcome to the world of Dell... I purchased two of those 920s with my two new computers this past Christmas.  Neither of them worked, the replacement they sent me for one of them doesn't work and they've yet to send a replacement for the second.  You now have the pleasure of owning a piece of Dell junk and have the right to use the worst customer service in existence...but don't take my word for it.  Just read the thousands of other messages on here, just like mine.  Dell....rhymes with He**.

I found the reason, why scan and copy button doesn't work on my system.

On my system were already installed some printers before I installed the A920. Some of these printers are disconnected.

The scan software seems to search the A920 in the printers list by trying to get printerinfo from the listed printers. During this process it also trys to get the informations from the disconnected printers. This causes the exception and the scan software to stop.

After deleting these printers from the printers list the scan software work as it should.
