I am new here. I am having trouble receiving faxes. My all in one is connected to the phone line. What should I do? I think I even changed it to pick up on the second ring but it still goes through the four rings from the phone and then the voice mail eventually picks it up. Thank you for your help.
Depends on your operating system. When posting a question, you should always mention your computer model and operating system, along with any other pertinent info. In this case, the utility you are using for fax is important. Vista Home Premium as well as Basic does not have any fax utlity and you must add a 3rd party program to fax.
I have windows XP. I have no problem sending faxes or printing. I have never set up my printer to receive faxes. After reading the book all it states is to plug it in and it should work. The printer software is already installed on my computer so no problems there. What should I do?
Make sure your printer is powered on, and ensure that an active telephone line is connected to the LINE connector (right side connector) on the printer.
Press the Mode button on the Operator Panel until the Fax LED is lit.
Press the Auto Answer button until the Auto Answer LED is lit.
Press the Menu button until Answer fax when appears.
Press the right arrow to scroll through the available options (After 1 ring, After 2 rings, After 3 rings, or After 5 rings).
Press the Select button when the option you want appears. When the number of set rings is detected, the printer automatically receives the fax.
Manual set-up
Make sure your printer is On and an active telephone line is connected to the LINE connector (right side connector) on the printer.
Make sure the Auto Answer LED is off.
When the printer rings, pick up a telephone and listen for the fax calling tone.
