I recently upgrade from Windows 7 to 8.1. At first I had problems with the printer but once I reinstalled the printer all was fine until a week ago. Now it does not print and I cannot figure out why. The only message I get is on the upper right hand corner it says "Printer Error" and that is all. I don't know what else to do. I am not a tech person so this is very frustrating for me. The other features of the printer are fine, i.e, making copies, scanning. To complicate matters the machine has been out of warranty since April of this year. Any suggestions?
There are many Studio 17 laptops. If you're not sure of the model, Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER and post the information back here.
The issue is the drivers need to be installed in the correct order or some items attached to your computer may not work correctly.
When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Start with the Dell System Software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

Was the operating system installed from a clean installation or did you install Windows 8.1 on top of the Windows 7 Operating system?
