When I started using Dell Win Vista Home Premium I lost most of the printer scan properties. Scan to MS Works and can only get pictures extensions: *.jpg, *.mpg, *.bmp, etc. Want to scan to *.doc and open with Works. copies ok. FAX never has worked. Lost OCR also. Solution?
Fax program. You should be able to fax from the Dell All-In-One Center. If not, then try this...

If you have the printer disk, double click my computer. Go to the drive with the Dellxxx disk and right click on it, left click explore. Go to the Fax folder and double click on it. Go to setup.exe and double click on it. This will install the Fax Program.
PudgyOne: Followed your recommendations with no success. Still only get pic extensions (*jpg, etc) and want MS Works *.doc. Did the All-in-One to setup MS Works as application, but there was not a *.doc extension. MS Works shows on the Scan To: Window and in All-in-One Center. Click Scan, get the Adding Image window, Works window pops up followed by "Works was unable to open the project you selected. The file may be corrupt." Using Works v 9.0. Any suggestions.........
Follow the instructions again and then tell if as a .rtf extension. This will scan it to Works.
I will try this is a few minutes. I just got a new computer and I forgot to install the printer. Still trying to update all my programs. I still need to get my address books off my old Dell Inspiron B130 and put them on My Dell Studio 17.
Did the re-try. Now I have lost All-in-One Center on the computer and cannot Scan from the printer at all. Copy OK. Reinstall the printer from original disks and nothing. -AND-
When I do a Restart I first get a black screen with white lettering about the computer specs. In the lower left corner "Press F1 to reboot" which puts the computer to the Welcome screen. Suggestions???

Try re-installing the pritner this way. The Dell All-In-One Center is in the driver package.
Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer. Restart your computer.
Download the proper drivers.
