I have been attempting all day to install my Dell Inspiron 6400 to a Dell 962 printer. After much drama (drivers wouldn't install and such) I have finally gotten everything to work. Problem is that everytime I connect the printer a "Found New Hardware" window pops open that says that there was a problem installing the device and "the system cannot find the file specified". Why is this happening and can I make it stop?
its great that u have got your printer to work..
now for that annoying popup/..
its a thing with vista itself.. happens in XP also in some cases..
u must be getting this popup when u disconnect and reconnect the usb cable..
look for any options in vista which say something like
install driver automatically
install from a specific location
NEVER do anything [ a message that looks similar to this ]
if u r able to see these messages in a window on vista.. clik on NEVER install anything for this.. this might help u out..
also if u dont find the above thing i mentioned to u........... do something to get rid of that popup!!! try connecting to another USB port..
ALSO try this
Run the setup file once again.. let the usb cable remain connected.. the installation wizard wud say something like " already a driver has been found what do u want to do "
select upgrade the driver [ recommended ] select that and proceed.
those settings must have come up automatically... if they have not.. then try doing the other step that i mentioned.. see if it helps :
try connecting to another USB port..
