V515w printer does not print black ink

My Dell V515w printer has 40% black ink but has 0% Color ink

I set print to "Use Black ink only" but Nothing prints?

Why?

Does the color ink need to have ink in order to only prink black?

Dell Series 21,23 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

You need to have enough ink in both cartridges for the printer to read the sensors.
