Dell Data Safe Update

I have a month old Studio 540, and every time I start it up, I get a window that opens saying there is an update from 1.1.0029 to 1.2.0009

available, and do I want to update.

I said yes, and it did the update. Since then this window comes up every time I boot the computer. How do I get it to stop doing this?

    namgrunt,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

This may possibly resolved yours and other users issues.

DSO 1.2 includes the CAPICOM API’s required and will install these as part of the upgrade. You can go to www.dell.com\datasafe and download the latest version of DSO (v 1.2).

I have been having the same problem today.  A couple of days ago, I was able to update my Inspiron desktop to the 1.2.0009 version.  It downloaded and installed no problem.  Today I tried to do the same with 3 brand new Inspiron 1440 laptops.  I get the message that a new update is available and click yes and then it opens quick and closes.  Does anybody have any ideas what the issue is.  i am running 64 bit Windows 7 on all the machines including the desktop.

I too have been having the exact same problem.  I say it is the same problem, but when I click yes, it doesn't seem to me anything happens.  I've had this annoying problem for about a week.   Will anyone help us?

Well, I tried to reply to the message above, giving as much information as possible, and the forum police deleted it. as they thought I was giving away company secrets. SO, I will make it real plain and simple so as to not be mistaken: HEY JESSEE, that is only the site to sign up or the like. There wasn't anything there about a DSO (v1.2) where to get it or the like. How about sending me a email to my email address with some detail as to how to get this problem fixed.

You go to the www.dell.com\datasafe site and click on the download button that is right above the login.  It will download ver 1.2 and do the upgrage.  I just did it on my 3 laptops and it works like a charm.  Very easy.  DSO stands for Data Safe Online ver 1.2.

Jesse, I am having recent issues with version 1.2 of Datasafe. I get a runtime error. I followed your advice and reinstalled (repaired) the software without success. I already spent over an hour on hold with 3 different departments without even getting the opportunity to explain what was happening. It seems the keyword is "datasafe" at which point the techs work hard to send me somewhere else. I am hoping you can give me some support that does not seem to exist out there in a formal way.

    Disgruntled.

Jesse...any help would be greatly appreciated by all of us who are having this same runtime error problem.  There are a lot of us out there!  My data hasn't been backed up for over six weeks.  I finally resorted to an external hard drive until the problem is resolved.  Thanks for your help.
