I had to format the drive and would like to get the Dell Media Experience and CyberLink Power DVD 5.1. My laptop is 700m. I assume the Dell Media Experience depends on PowerDVD. If it doesn't, PowerDVD is not a requirement but I would definitely like to isntall Dell Media Experience , as it will help me in presentations.
I had my hard drive go bad on my new Inspiron 6000. Dell sent me a new hard drive which I received today. Case number is 112593124. I want to re-install Dell Media Center and Power DVD, but when I checked my software that came with the computer, I can't find Power DVD or Dell Media Center. What can I do?
Dell sent me a message yesterday that states that the 21-day period for obtaining free replacement CD's is expired. My hard drive unfortunately gave out between 21 and 30 days. They also said I could purchase them but gave me no information on how to do that.
They are wrong. Contact them and provide this quote from the Media Reduction Initiative - Policy and Procedure document, "For customers who insist, agents will create EXG(s) for the appropriate media.".
Notice, it said nothing about inside a 21 day period. Who did you speak with?
See text copied and pasted below from e-mail I referred to.
Also, Kudo's to Eeshwar_peddu@dell.com who sent me replacement Drivers and Utilities CD and Application CD (which also was missing from CD's which shipped with the laptop.
I am still looking for Power DVD, but I think Eeshwar Peddu is on top of that.
"Further, as the CyberLink Power DVD Sonic My DVD 5.3 & Record Now 7.3 Deluxe are missing you will need to purchase them.
As per Dell policy we cannot send you any CDs after 21 days of purchasing the system from the invoice date.
Please contact Dellware at: 1-800-449-3355 for further information regarding the purchase as they have got the required and updated resources for providing you the exact information."
