Once I closed several open volumes in the EX Administrator, the installation/upgrade process from 564 was seamless. EmailXtract and the search plug-in for the local Outlook install were also upgraded to 655 during the process. I have not checked into upgrading the OWA component yet. Does anyone know if that needs upgrading also with this patch?
Be sure to temporarily remove the journal connection mailbox(es) from your vault properties before upgrading to keep messages from coming in during the upgrade process.
you didn't post if you are running E2k7 or E2k3. Anyway: you should always update all components, while the search plugin for the users is not as important.
If you don't update the OWA component, you will not experience the fixes of this component. To my understanding, you won't break the system, but I would strongly recommend the update! Best to troubleshoot as well, as you know the system is run as intended by EMC.
I guess what I'm asking is - Were any of the OWA2007 components updated in the 655 patch? The patch documentation does not refer to anything specifically, and the file size is exactly the same as the original 624 release.
Good question. I also checked the file version for you. Both is 12.0.0.58851. Hence I doubt they've changed something and therefore would keep your installed version for OWA 2007.
Do you know if some or all of the EX Utilities were changed with 655 ? The patch 655 utilities are stored here: C:\EMC Software\EX 4.81\EmailXtender-4-81-655\Utilities (That is simply a place to keep the software as it is downloaded from EMC.) However, we actually run the system from here: D:\Program Files\OTG\EmailXtender\bin\utils
Should we copy the files from that C: area to the D: area ? I wonder why the install process does not do that step ? Thanks. ==
Although a few of the utilities have slightly different file sizes, all the version numbers are identical between 564 and 655. I'm guessing they didn't change at all. I would still use the 655 copies, however, just to be safe.
Not sure why they weren't automatically copied to the EmailXtender\bin\utils folder through the setup process. Probably wouldn't hurt to manually copy the new utilities to that location. I generally run the utils from a separate folder anyway - for no particular reason.
