i have a laptop inspiron 6400 Intel® Core Duo Proc T2250 (1.73GHz/533MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache), Genuine Windows® XP with an 8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability. For whatever reason i have never been able to burn cd's from any software. Everything goes through the motions but the end result is a blank disc. any ideas of how to fix this frustrating problem?????
Are you getting any error messages or does the software claim that the burn was successful? If the latter, turn on the verification of the disk after burn (different softwares have this option in different places and with slightly different wording, but all of them should have it and it should be somewhat obvious from the wording what it is supposed to do). If the former, post the error messages here.
there is no error message. it appears to copy all songs but inserting the disc on my machine or others indicators are that the disc is blank. i have tried the verification process as well with no success. any more ideas????
Have you opened explorer and tried exploring the contents of the CD? Does the CD show any signs of being burned if you examine it visually? If the verification process is succeeding, I have a feeling there is data on the CD, but there is some problem reading off it when you insert it after taking it out.
looking at the disc, it does appear to have data on the disc, however only when i burn from sonic record, when i burn from itunes there does not appear to be anything on it....???? if it is a verify issue how do youdo that...???
I have never used Itunes, so I can't say what is going on with it. In most software meant specifically for burning CD/DVD's, there is a verification option that can be turned on in the burn screen that makes sure after the burning that the burnt files are readable off the CD. So, the verification follows the burn and if it succeeds, then the data should be on the CD. Why you are not able to see it is a mystery to me. Are you burning a music CD or a data CD? Does the same problem happen for both types of CD's?
