cd skipping

I have spent so many hours on the phone with Dell about my CDRW, I could scream.  The CDRW in my XPS400 skips.  With any player but only on some cd's.  The dvd burner works fine.  After 2 or 3 phone calls, Dell FINALLY conceded that it was probably the burner and came out to replace it.  Once they replaced it, it STILL didn't work, and to top it off - since that day,  I have not been able to log back on to our wireless network.  I have spent over 7 hours on the phone with Dell and linksys over that problem ALONE and still have no resolution.  The receiver is getting the signal and my computer recognizes that it's working, but my computer is not reading it.  Any suggestions that don't involve calling those bozos again?

    Hi Kareterra,

Lets see if we can deal with the drive issue. As far the Network issue, Dell created a new Network conference, so that question should be directed there.

Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 20, article 3 and see if reloading the IDE controller will help. Also open the case and reseat the IDE cable going from the motherboard to the back of the drive. You may wish to check the jumper setting on the back of the drive to make sure the Tech used Cable Select, not Master/Slave.

    Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
    difference.

    flaco22,

I see that you're new to the Forum and from what I see it's looks as though you'll be a real help.  I want to pass along a little information that might help.  I'm not starting a flame war and I don't want to see you leave but I do want to you to understand how this forum works.

I hope you understand that I said this forum because just like real families, all forum families have different "rules of conduct".  This particular post actually cut off another poster, Predator.  What you did is considered a little rude, jump in the middle of a coversation so to speak.  Most the regulars kind of frown on that.

The other thing I would like to share is how you don't use punctuation.  Your sentences just run together.  That makes reading a little difficult.

I hope I didn't offend you and hope you'll stick around.  I just wanted to pass around the family rules.
