I'm trying to build a RAID 1 array on my new XPS8900 PC. I have two 2TB drives, one of which is the system volume plus one 32Gb SSD on the machine but when I run the Intel RST program and click on create it does not offer the system volume as an array member only the other 2TB drive and the SSD. I cannot see any settings which prevent the system volume being part of the array, I can see it clearly as a device in RST.
Any suggestions why I cannot create the array that I want (I know I have done it before but not recently !!).
Thanks for that, I was not familiar with Storage Spaces. As far as I can see from the Microsoft info it requires two extra drives in addition to the system volume and is destructive to the data on both drives. I only have one extra drive so that would seem to be a problem. I suspect that if I was happy to totally rebuild the system volume then I could build the array using IRST and then reinstall win 10 but I was hoping to use the option to protect the data on one of the drives. I will look more closely at Storages Spaces to confirm the above.
Now had the chance to check it out and I'm afraid that Storage Spaces cannot use the system drive so I'm not able to use it but thanks for your assistance with my problem.

Hi Peter,
Are you running Windows 10? There's an app called storage spaces that you can use to set up software RAID. Try doing a search for that.
