Dimension 4600 question
I have a 4600 and recently installed vista on it. How do I reinstall XP? When I try to boot from the cd it doesnt work, and if I try to run the cd it says something like "cannot install since its an older version of windows". Any help appreciated.

- basically, if you run the reinstallation CD in Windows, you cannot overwrite a newer version with an old one. you need to reformat your hard drive to erase the entire C: or whatever drive you have windows on.as what PETER345 said, you need to reboot your computer and press F12 on the Dell logo, choose boot to CD drive. (make sure that the OS CD is inserted, if you have 2 or more CD ROM drives OS CD needs to be on top drive).For step by step procedure, click this link:note:the first step: " STEP: Have you troubleshot the system to attempt to avoid a reinstallation?" choose the second button and follow the next step until you successfully deleted the Windows Vista and reinstalled the old Windows XP version.the same link will also guide you in reinstalling your drivers and application software.good luck...

Hey Peter,I tried both drives, and did change the boot sequence...I tried it from both the F2 and F12 menus. It for some reason will not boot from the disc. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

Did you press F12 and select the CD drive to boot?
Are you sure it is the Windows OS CD?
