I cannot open my computer

When I click on My Computer on the desktop, the shortcut on the task bar, or try to open the control panel from the start menu, I receive an error message:
 
Explorer has caused an error in . Explorer will nowclose. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.
 
I've restarted many times.  The error message will change.  Sometimes it's an error in , shell32.dll, browseui.dll, or shlwapi.dll.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Hi,

    What computer model and series

    What Operating System

    ANy new software or hardware

    Have you carried out Spyware and Virus scans
     
    Post back with some more information and someone may be able to help.

    My computer is a Dell Dimension L900CXE.  I'm running Windows ME.  I have done several full virus scans and spyware scans and fixed any problems that arose.  My virus scans have not found any viruses.  Can you help?
