Operating systems

Having a new system that operates on vista, and having some business software that won't function on vista, I am thinking I can load Windows XP on the system too.  I'm supposing that the hard drive will have to be partitioned and would appreciate any useful information anyone would care to share.:smileyhappy:

This may be a dumb questions, but I am wondering if a person can load and operate windows XP from a flash drive?

What kind of system do you have?

Make sure all drivers are available for the type of system that you have before you reformat.

Ok for starters, yes you can install xp on most machines that came with vista make sure that there are driver as last person said....

When installing xp make sure legacy mode is enabled in bios other wise u might get a bsod or driver issues

I don't belive that you can have xp on a flash drive but i have seen it  with Liunx...

BE CAREFUL Dell may not support the OS that did not come with the machine...

It's a Gateway system.  If it involves reformatting, I'll have to get new programs I guess.  I thought there might be something simple that I could do.

I'm running one program on a computer that is Windows XP.  It's a program I just bought a year ago but it is not compatible with Vista that is on the new computer.  I can leave it on the Dell, but I would like to have it on the Gateway, if there was some easy way to do.  I thought that I might be able to load Windows XP on the Gateway, in addition to Vista.  If it involves reformatting, it's likely more work than it would be worth.
