Which Drivers do I use?
I'm trying to do a Windows XP Professional repair install. However, during the Windows Setup Routine after I hit the "Enter" key, it says it cannot detect a hard drive. According to some posts in the software users forum, during the initital setup process I should select the F6 option to load the drivers for the hard drive. I have a Dimension 8400 with an AT3160023AS 160GB hard drive. I believe it is a Seagate. Three questions.
1. Exactlly what drivers do I need.
2. Where do I get them?
3. Once I get them, where do I put them so I can access them during the XP setup routing? If XP doesn't recognize my hard drive, I assume it won't do me any good to put them there.
When I run Belarc Advisor I see these are the entries for "Controllers" exactly as they appear.
Standard floppy disk controller
Intel(R) 82801FB/FBM Ultra ATA Storage
Controllers - 266F
Intel(R) 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller
Primary IDE Channel [Controller}

You need to prepare a floppy with the SATA drivers on it, pause the install at F6, insert the floppy in the INTERNAL [not external] floppy drive and load the drivers and the repair reinstall should find the hard drive.
You can download the drivers from Here.
You need the 309kb Serial ATA [SATA]-Driver.
